Lash Love

If (heaven forbid) I could only have ONE beauty product to use for the rest of my life… it would most definitely be Mascara.  My eyelashes are blonde and wispy and you would surely be concerned for my health if you saw me without it.  It’s not pretty, trust me.

I have tubes in every purse and in every room in my house.  It’s probably not normal. So, as a result, I’ve spent a lot of time and a lot of money on the stuff over the years and totally consider myself an expert.  But this weekend, my gorgeous friend Sara turned me on to a brand new one for me – Lights Camera Flashes by Tarte –  and it. is. LOVE.

You had me at the fancy packaging.

It’s thick but not clumpy, goes on easily, and stays FOREVER.  Amazing.

However, as I am not, and will probably never be a mascara monogamist – I put together a handy-dandy guide to LC’s Lash Favorites.  Here’s the latest list of the mascaras in rotation in my life – depending on my needs…and my wallet.  Without further ado:

From left: Guerlain Cils d’Enifer Maxi Lash ($30), Trish McEvoy High Volumemy favorite waterproof mascara! ($31), Tarte Lights Camera Flashes ($23), tried-and-true Maybelline Great Lash ($5), and finally, my old friend L’Oreal Voluminous ($6)

By the way, if you have some gem that I’ve missed…please feel free to leave it in the comments.

Now, go forth and bat with confidence!

xx, L

Pirate Alert!

I kept seeing this little red devil in magazine ads + I felt like it was calling my name.

“Lindsay…  Lindsay…  Find me…  Buy me…  Love me…”

It was quite haunting, I must admit.  But I did just that: I found it, and bought it, and I LOVE it!  And, now I have to tell you all about it.

Chanel’s Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour in Pirate is the lip color for fall.  It has red/blue hues that are just so velvety and flattering.  I want to wear it ALL the time.  Find it…  Buy it…  Love it…  (And, thank your favorite blog for telling you about it!)

You’re welcome, you sexy devil, you.  :)

The Sweetest Nail Salon in Town!

Although it’s not THAT new to the neighborhood (over a year old, I believe), I just visited Sugarcoat’s Virginia Highlands location for the first time this week + I am happy to report that it’s my new favorite Atlanta nail salon!

Typically, I opt for Lily’s Nails on Piedmont/Monroe, Polished on Peachtree/North Druid Hills, or Top Nails in Toco Hills for convenience and cost-effective regular nail services.  I also like the flexibility of being able to walk into any of these no-frills salons and get a service right away.  Sugarcoat, however, has officially changed my perspective.

Although it is slightly more expensive than my regular salons + appointments are requested, the atmosphere, selection of services, and customer service at Sugarcoat is definitely worth the $$$ and the effort to make an appointment.  Look at how pretty it is inside!  So sleek, modern, + clean.

It definitely does not look like a typical intown nail salon.

Sugarcoat offers a variety of services including waxing, massages, and eyelash extensions, but I focused on the hands/feet services during my first visit.  It was nice to see that they offer an Express mani/pedi for busy bees at a very decent price for a basic service ($12 mani/$25 pedi/$35 combo), but I had time during my visit and I opted for the Escape to Fiji services.  They were awesome – and worth every penny.  I highly recommend when you feel like treating yourself!

Escape to Fiji Manicure: Nail shaping, cuticle care, Pure Fiji Coconut Creme Scrub, ultra moisturizing Pure Fiji Coconut Body Butter massage.  $30.

Escape to Fiji Pedicure: A mini-vacation for tired feet!  Coconut foot soak, nail shaping, cuticle care, Pure Fiji Coconut Oil Exfoliating Sugar Scrub, gentle massage using warm stones and Pure Fiji Pineapple Scented Oil.  Tiny warm stones are placed between toes while they are polished to perfection.  (Cabana boy and pina colada not included…)  $50.

Escape to Fiji Combo: $75.  :)

Sugarcoat is totally hip, and although it’s not new to the Highlands, it’s newish to me – and I’m in LURVE!  I can’t wait to visit again for some serious pampering!

Liver Lovin’ (My Juice Cleanse Journey)

The way I figure it, my liver is my body’s MVP.

I mean, as evidenced here, here, and here – that itty bitty organ, roughly the size of a football, is definitely earning it’s keep.

Yep, that little guy does a lot for me so when Shannon Sliger, owner of dTox Juice (remember the dTox Box?  Click HERE), challenged me to try their 7-day Liver Cleanse – how could I refuse?

The Q+DD on the Liver Cleanse is this: each day, you receive a fresh box of goodies which includes four 16oz juices: dTox Water, Liver Flush, Green Juice, Red Juice, and Brazil Nut Milk as well as a vegetable soup, a carrot salad and a beet salad.

Beet salad and carrot salad. Respectively.

Shannon tells you the order in which to consume these goodies – basically every 2 hours.  Everything is DELICIOUS.   Well, everything except the Liver Flush.   It’s mostly grapefruit, ginger, olive oil and…garlic.  It’s not awful – nothing closing your eyes and pinching your nose can’t fix.

Trust the process, trust the process.

And, unlike other programs - you can eat on this cleanse!  You can eat as much as you want from a finite list of alkaline foods (check out the full list) Although, I gotta tell you – I don’t know if it was because I knew I could eat if I wanted to – or simply because the juices and salads kept me satisfied – I didn’t find myself supplementing with much extra food at all!  (Just some hummus and bell peppers and cukes – per Shannon’s suggestion)

In the interest of full disclosure, the cleanse is meant for a whole week, but I only committed to 4 days.  BUT: I am here to tell you that I have just completed my 4th day and I feel FANTASTIC!   I’m lighter (3lbs) and brighter and I would SO do it again.  Maybe even for the full 7!

Here are some of the benefits of cleansing your liver (from the dTox website):

Complexion clears and brightens
Dark circles disappear from under the eyes
Some age spots may disappear
Digestion improves
Weight loss becomes easier; cellulite goes away
Energy increases
Sleep improves; need to urinate at night disappears
Aches and pains disappear
Headaches often cease
Memory improves
Mood is better
Allergies go away
Facial Puffiness disappears
Sinus problems clear

You can do the full 7 day cleanse for $500 or wait for the seasonal group cleans that dTox offers for a discounted rate of $350!

I’m totally a believer.  If you’re considering a juice cleanse, I say head on over to dTox and give it a (wheatgrass) shot.

Aaaaand…. back to chewing tomorrow.
