Darling Jane Darling!

So I have a new uniform.  If you’ve seen me in the evenings or on the weekends lately, whether casual or dressy – I have likely been wearing these pants:

Allow me to introduce you to the “Legginskirt” ™ by Jane Darling by ME Leggings.  With a skirt attached.  Seems simple but I had no idea how versatile they would be.  The spandex-y material is perfect – you can be active in them, lounge around in them, and still feel cute throwing on a pair of heels and going out to dinner in them!  Seriously.  I am in love.  I think I wore them almost every day in Italy.  They are PERFECT for travel.  Check it:

LK in JDBM in Italia!

Here’s the Q+DD on Jane Darling by ME Started by local Atlanta designers Marty Alterman and Emily Mak, JDBM is a line that was created out of necessity.   Marty was looking for a way to gracefully transition after she hit “a certain age” and wanted to show a little less skin and still be cute. She teamed up with her trusty alterations genius Emily and what happened next is magic:  Super. Flattering. Clothes. For. All!

The line is NOT just Legginskirts™.  It’s jackets.  It’s shirts.  It’s dresses. It’s tunics.  It’s a line full of your go-to clothes.  Everything is slimming:  the shirts fit a little longer, the fabric is a little sturdier and more forgiving, there’s strategic ruching and ruffles and best of all – everything is very fresh.  No old lady clothes here, friends.  Check out a few pieces of the latest collection:

I am literally obsessed.  You can visit Jane Darling’s website by clicking HERE, stop by Shanghai Alterations in Sandy Springs or Beth Ann boutique in Buckhead or Fragile Gifts in Sandy Springs.

BETTER YET:  Stop by Fragile on THURSDAY November 17th from 6:30 – 8:00PM for a JDBM trunk show! 6010 Sandy Springs Cir NE # C  Atlanta, GA 30328

Bonus: 10% of all orders done during the Trunk Show will be given to The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation!

(Bonus bonus: You get to go to Fragile.  Which is an amazing place.  But that is another post for another day – probably after I register for spectacular home goods there!)

I am begging you to check out Jane Darling by ME.  At this time, I’d like to issue a preemptive “I told you so.”

I think I will.

I told you so.

xx, L

Art (and Party) Lovers Alert:

The High Museum of Art is launching a new exhibit: “Picasso to Warhol: Fourteen Modern Masters,” which is an amazing collection of over 100 works by 14 of the 20th century’s most iconic artists!

Yep – MoMA is coming to Atlanta, y’all!   This is the first major exhibition of the MoMA series and one of the largest concentrations of modern art masterpieces ever exhibited in the southeast.

Well, if that doesn’t call for a party, I don’t know what does.

Luckily…

THIS Thursday, October 6th, they are holding “The Picasso to Warhol Gala,” sponsored by Salvatore Ferragamo, to kick off the exhibition.  You can get your tix for a cool $2500/couple.

The gala will be followed by After POP (Party on the Piazza) at 9PM, for an evening of dancing under the stars with music provided by DJ Maseo of De la Soul(Just an after party kind of a person?  These tix are $75 a pop… pun intended.)

Hope to see y’all there!

Earthquake Devastation.

Yesterday, a 5.8 magnitude earthquake rocked + shocked the East Coast and was felt all the way from DC up to Toronto.

Below is my favorite picture of the massive ”devastation.”

Be careful out there y’all.  It’s just like The Day After Tomorrow, pretty much…  :)

Fifth Group Introduces Alma Cocina This Fall.

After extensive research, discussion + eating, Fifth Group Restaurants has tightened the description of their newest restaurant and hired a chef.  Alma Cocina is set to open around November 1st in downtown Atlanta’s One Ninety One Peachtree Tower.

“We originally thought we would do authentic Tex Mex and Mexican-inspired dishes,” said a Fifth Group rep.  “But after our travels + discussions with the creative leadership within Fifth Group Restaurants, as well as those who would be our regular guests, we decided to focus more on contemporary Mexican cuisine infused with the many flavors of Latin America.  Then we found Chef Chad Clevenger and knew for sure this was the right direction.”

Clevenger has 14 impressive years of culinary experience that includes work with some ultra famous chefs.  He was the executive chef at Coyote Cafe in Santa Fe, and owned award-winning restaurants + a street cart focusing on global pork dishes in Denver.  He moved to Atlanta in mid-July to begin training with the Fifth Group team, as well as to focus on Alma menu development.

CCC: chef chad clevenger

Alma Cocina will serve lunch + dinner and provide catering services to the downtown Atlanta area.  The restaurant will accommodate about 200 guests for traditional dining room seating, accented by two distinct bar areas with large booths + communal tables which will spill out into the beautiful One Ninety One Peachtree Tower atrium.

Um, YUM!  Not going to lie, just writing all of this is making my tummy growl…  Can’t wait to meet you, Alma Cocina!  Welcome to the A!

Planking: Where Have I BEEN?

So… I had lunch with my friend Lauren today

Hi, Lauren!

and she was very proud to show me her latest “planking” triumph…

Lauren “planking” her desk

PEOPLE!  If you knew about Planking and you didn’t tell me…for shame.  It is hilarious.

For those of you who have no idea what I’m talking about and are about as clueless as I was up until about 12:43 today, let me educate you…

From Wikipedia:

Planking or the lying down game is an activity consisting of lying face down in an unusual or incongruous location.  Players compete to find the most unusual and original location in which to play. The term planking refers to mimicking a wooden plank.

From Urban Dictionary:

The art of planking is to lay horizontally across any object or the ground with their arms by their sides, aiming to occur in daring situations or a brotherly display of core-strength.

“Look at that mad-man planking that parking meter!”

The Official Rules from Planking.Me:

1. You must lay face down
2. Your legs must remain straight and together with your toes pointed.
3. Your arms must be placed by your side, held straight with your fingers pointed.
