Happy Birthday, LINDSAY!
Hope your day is full of chocolate, bacon, and happy hours and hope that this year is the BEST ONE YET!
Happy birthday, gorgeous!
Raw Fish + Booze…
…are two important staples in my diet, so this event at STEEL Restaurant & Lounge in Midtown is right up my alley.
Sounds like a great time!

10th & Piedmont on 10th & Piedmont
10th and Piedmont opened a few months ago in the old Outwrite Bookstore space on the corner of (can you guess?)…
Since it moved into the neighborhood, I’ve dropped in for lunch, happy hour, dinner, and for late night eats. I’ve enjoyed their quirky, seasonally-inspired, small bites menu; really friendly staff; and super chic decor. Most of all, I love this drink: their take on The Vesper. Isn’t she divine?
10th and Piedmont’s cocktail menu is robust and wild. Just like Baton Bob, Midtown’s eccentric street performer you can watch from the restaurant’s large windows.
On the lunch front, I tasted some of these creative banh mi sandwiches a few weeks ago and thought they were cute and perfect for a quick work bite!
10th and Piedmont is where it’s at in Midtown now, and they have lots of fun things going on each week like their Big Table Big Screen Tuesdays and their Sunday Bellini Brunch with Live Music to name a few. So many fun reasons to drop by!
Make sure you say “hello” to Gilbert! He’s the best!

Adventures in Cocktails
So, I’ve been doing a lot of cocktailing lately…and not a lot of writing. But to make it up to you, here’s the Q+DD on 3 creative ideas for your happy hour(s):
The basement of the refined and established Georgian Terrace Hotel holds a little surprise: ultra cool restaurant and bar, Proof and Provision. A stark contrast to the ultra-glam Livingston upstairs, Proof and Provision is dark, cozy, and effortlessly cool. (isn’t it just like an old Southern family to have a quirky family member in their brood?)
I went just before the holidays with one of my favorite little cocktail crews… we nibbled on hardwood smoked almonds with rosemary salt, deviled eggs, and ok – a grilled cheese or two - while we sipped on hand crafted cocktails:
…and you know, hung out with Ice Cube.
I suggest reading the full story on Witty and Pretty. (Prepare to belly laugh, Hess is hilarious.)
2. Article 14 I’m not going to lie to you, I have never liked a restaurant in this space, but when the girls suggested it as a kick-start to the weekend a few weeks back, it seemed as good a place as any and I’m so glad I made it in there. My fingers are crossed for Article 14 – located in the 1180 building on Peachtree at the corner of 14th (behind Tap) it’s upscale and ritzy but relaxed, and the wait staff is precious.
We totally got our nosh and enjoyed a few bevvies – definitely a nice change of pace for this area of town!
3. Cook Hall
So, in the W Buckhead, Market is out, Cook Hall is in. It’s brand-spanking-new, but the word is already out and the place is relatively small. We were lucky that Hess scored us a reservation because the joint was on a 20-minute wait on a Thursday night and when it comes to cocktails – my crew prefers instant gratification. (who doesn’t?)
It’s a buzzy little gastropub and the food is delish! We especially enjoyed the deviled eggs with blue crab, the meatballs, and the cheese plate (duh)
But we REALLY loved the “cocktail kit” which arms you with Tito’s vodka and everything you need to make your own fancy-pants drink.
Full disclosure: mine ended up tasting like an extremely sweet pineapple and rosemary explosion…but it was super fun to construct. I have a feeling Hess and Terch were better equipped to make a cocktail.
However, if you do end up with a masterpiece in a glass, the cocktail kit is equipped with a “little black book” for you to jot down your recipe for future cocktail conquistadors! (Don’t worry, you won’t find my little gem in there)
That’s all for now! Feel free to shoot us your new favorite places to spend the hours of 5-9 on Monday – Friday in the comments section…mmmkay?

Return of the Terribly Absent Blogger…
Hello, everyone! It’s me! It’s me! I’ve returned from my two month hiatus!
THANK YOU for allowing me that precious time for a little blog cleanse. After over three years of almost constant blogging, I’ll be the first to admit that you can get burnt out when you overdose on things that you love so much (gelato, pizza, yoga, Real Housewives of any city, blogging), so I truly appreciate your patience with me. The good news is that I’m officially back now and ready to fill you in on lots of exciting things going on in Atlanta! Starting tomorrow, I’m back to the grind. Today, I wanted to update you on what I’ve been up to over the past two months.
Kevin and I tied the knot in Atlanta! It was an unforgettable weekend for us.
(Muscles brought to you by the amazing pilates reformer guru, Meredith Bass!)
We took an awesome trip to Arizona! Here we are in Sedona…
At the South Rim of the Grand Canyon…
And relaxing at the Ritz-Carlton Resort at Dove Mountain.
We spent Thanksgiving in Jacksonville where we came in second place in a highly competitive family holiday cookie competition with these bad boys. Brown Butter Bacon Chocolate Chip Cookies. (We were robbed, I tell ya!)
We traveled to beautiful Montego Bay, Jamaica for Rosh’s wedding.
Then to Delray, Florida for our friend Jesse’s wedding.
And we celebrated the New Year in sunny Jacksonville Beach!
In between all of our traveling, we found time to eat. A lot.
Drink. A lot.
Relax. A lot.
Experiment in the kitchen. (Here’s the no-brainer peppermint bark recipe we used.)
Get together with good buddies.
Play with nail polish.
Hug some babies.
Get some dental work done. (Sidenote: I really wanted this to be our holiday card, but I was vetoed.)
Watch an entire two seasons of Homeland. Totally obsessed – more on that later…
And meet Charles Barkley!
Needless to say, it’s been a very busy past two months. I’m rejuvenated now, and it feels so great to be back!
Here’s to the Q+DD! Here’s to 2013! It’s totally gonna be a great one!
